Wrong Side of My City
I walk my stroller, my baby faced towards me
The cracks in the sidewalk start to disappear
The purses I see now are more money than my rent
A lady’s shoes,
A reminder that shoes are worth more than
my dreams.
They wear diamonds that swallow their hands
But I live of Diamond
And it swallows my soul.
I’ll turn around now
I know my place and it’s not here.
I’m at the bottom, surrounded by darkness.
Lonely and scared…
There’s only one light,
dim and in the distance
