What is...
I could say,
“Depression doesn’t define”
But I have better words to
explain
Depression is an illness
but the symptoms
come from inside
Some people try to hide it
and they do it well
And it can seem easy,
when you’re
sick in the head
but it’s not easy
it’s nearly impossible
to hold a fake smile all day
“Depression doesn’t define”
I know people
depressed people
who are different than most
they act different, talk different,
but that’s not because of sadness
or loneliness
it’s because of experience.
Experience in life, in love, in hope.
But no, depression doesn’t define
Experience does. It changes you
Experience defines who you are
