Justice for Forbidden Love
A soft breeze whispers through the trees
Buzzing over flowers fly bees
Down by the water in the summer time
A bench, the color of amber,
Glistens in the sun
Through the tall grasses a girl runs
Another girl sits on the bench
Down by the water she smiles
At her beauty
Leaves float slowly from tree branches
Carpeting the forest floor with paints of orange, red, and brown
Down by the water on the bench
The two girls sit together
Side by side
They take a walk through the brisk fall air
Through grasses turned golden, swaying
Hand in hand
Snow blankets the ground now
They are still walking along the water
Frozen with a mirror of cracked ice
Their reflection staring back up at them
Love is in their eyes
Snowflakes are a dusting in their hair
They sit on the bench
Side by side
Eyes locked with admiration
Softly they kiss
Shhh, one of them says
Don't tell anyone
Of this forbidden love
Society doesn't approve
I don't care, the other says
Don't care if it goes against people's beliefs
It shouldn't matter
The color of your skin
Your country of origin
Where you live
Who you love
Love is love
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Marry a woman
Or marry a dude
