Finding Your Happiness
What is happiness?
The dictionary definition says the state of being happy
The Bible answers with the belief in God and
Gandhi claims its harmony in what you think, say, and do
But they are all wrong.
Happiness comes at its own free will
In times of darkness and despair
And is felt by each individual uniquely
Happiness is the sunrise and sunset after a long day.
The rise and fall of the oceans waves
Walking at midnight underneath the stars
And the sight of a fresh layer of untouched, glistening snow
Happiness is crossing the finish line after months of training.
The well deserved spot on a team
Pushing yourself to your greatest potential
And the sound of a large crowd cheering, praising your efforts
Happiness is the final bell on the last day of school.
The laughs that make your stomach hurt
Smiling faces of the people you love
And the touch of warm, bear hug embraces
Happiness is taking off your high heels and climbing under the sheets.
The random good hair days
Driving on the highway while singing on the top of your lungs
And the smell of chlorine after a hot, pool filled summer day
Happiness is the greatest slice of pizza topped with cheese.
The unforgettable moments with your best friend
Dancing down the street with your headphones in
And the taste of chocolate chip, melted cookies right out of the oven
Wherever your happiness lies,
Only you can sense its presence.
