A penny for your thought
They say
I say it’s a way for money
For my opinion
They want to have that.
But maybe I want to keep
My penny for me
And only me
Unless I’m with you.
Then, that penny is something
Shiny
New
Valuable
And special.
It’s not a bribe
It represents
Words
Laughter
And silly looks.
Even though
We are separate
This momentary trinket
Is always in my pocket
It isn’t just a coin anymore.
