"Keep your head on the ground, and your feet in the clouds. Watch everything as its upside down."

“I can’t sleep,”
She whispered softly.
I let her climb in bed.

I held her close to me all night,
Unable to tell reality from my vivid hallucinations.
Her skin was cold and clammy,
Where has she been?

I turned over,
And she placed her arm around me.
Her cold skin sent shivers up my spine.
I could feel her breathing on my neck.

I woke up expecting her to be there.
She was gone.
I was terrified; you can tell she has been here.
She left something behind.

The dress she had been buried in,
Three weeks before, still laid where she once was.

Having been thinking about what it would be like to have a loved one who has passed to come back for just one night, I had gotten the idea to write this poem.
