An Ode to Roses
Eyes sparkle
Like glass in my memories
Cutting down the walls I built to keep them away
Every time I hear your name
I feel something like
A mixture of all the worst parts hate
All the worst parts of fear
And all the best parts of love
Every time I see you
I can’t decide if I want to punch you
Or if I want you to punch me
I feel like I’m always chasing
But as soon as I reach you
I turn and run the other way
Why don’t you ever stop me?
I’m always running back and forth
Over the thorns
My blood painting
Your roses
Red
