The glass shattered, falling into puddles of water from the rain
The extended hand reached out, but was rejected
A drop of life mixed in with the water
The rain poured in endless torrents, the clouds illuminated in a hazy purple light

A thin stream of life trailed down his arm, drawing a line on the skin not yet blessed by the sun
The curious child lifted his arm to his face
A drop of life slipped and landed on a shard of glass
The rain poured in endless torrents, the clouds illuminated in a hazy purple light

The child tasted life, and now he yearned to taste it again
The child stepped into the rain, and met a girl
A drop of life fell from his hair and landed on the ground
The rain poured in endless torrents, the clouds illuminated in a hazy purple light

The child stepped closer, and tasted her life
She fell to the ground as the life poured out of her
A drop of life trickled down the side of the child’s mouth
The rain poured in endless torrents, the clouds illuminated in a hazy purple light

Now the child knelt in glass shards, still not blessed by the sun
He smiled as tears streamed down his face
A drop of life fell from his fingertips
Now the child tasted death
The rain poured in endless torrents, the clouds illuminated in a hazy purple light
