The Animal
She’s gone wild
The wise man runs
in fear he shall become her prey
for she has no leash- no fence or pen-
to contain her, that can contain
the beast
in the bushes glow
her red eyes, hungry
no one dares to walk in her woods
for the trees may catch fire
She won’t stop
until she has the forest in fear
of what she will do next
the wise man knows her antics
for when she dips her paws in the river for a drink
the water turns to blood and beer
she guards her territory
with her crooked laughter
at first inviting,
leading the unwary into the fire
And she leaves
laughing
laughing at her dirty paws
