The Cost
Some things are priceless nowadays
Like the camaraderie of a friendship
Or a love you can’t live without
But you’ve taken them for granted and this is what happens
Your own words have lost a purpose
Because no one can believe what you say
The choices you’ve made pissed all these away
Now you’re in a maze
Flooded with haze
On your knees you pray
“God take me back to the good ole days”
But time won’t stop
Neither do your mistakes
“But nobody’s perfect”
That’s an excuse for people who can’t get it right
You feel as worthless as your words
Yet your mistakes come with a cost
So with the number you’ve made you’re drowning in debt
“Oh no big deal just put it on the card”
But how do you do that when your credibility means nothing anyways
All these priceless things you couldn’t give away
Are now given a price tag
And are bought by a person who doesn’t know your name
Nor do they know your story of remorse and shame
They just see a beautiful girl and a smiling face
But to you she’s more
She’s the love of your life
No one could ever put a price on your wife
However Hell’s knocking at your door
It’s time to pay up
But death’s to easy
The cost of your worst mistake is impossible to escape
A person may forgive but you are chained to your past
