What is True to Me?

There was a time when I was certain I knew what was true to me.
Someone I knew once showed me who I was and who I wanted to be.
‘This life is a gift,’ he used to say ‘it’s easy to forget and get caught up in the day by day’
Do you know the feeling? When someone can show you what is true even to yourself?

He used to read me bedtime stories when I was there, taking me to a different world.
Every night I would fall asleep on the couch looking up at his glasses perched on his nose.
It was unique looking into his eyes, you would ask yourself how someone could be so genuine.
Those last moments of lucidity, while I would gaze up at his eyes, I was a witness to my truth.

He was not perfect, he had his flaws, he had his fears. He even had his own crazy way of living.
This man was probably the wisest in understanding the mystery of life. He solved it.
He believed life was dedicated to spreading and searching solely for truth, beauty and goodness. He was true to himself, throughout his good and his bad. He lived, he loved life, and he left.

Looking for what is true in yourself, other people and in the world around you.
Looking for what is beautiful in yourself, other people and in the world around you.
Looking for goodness in yourself, other people and in the world around you.

Faith may be my flaw. Faith in the sense that I believe my life is on a path.
A path that will right itself if one constantly seeks and spreads truth, beauty and goodness.
See those three things around us, create them for ourselves, and find them in other people.
Only loving each other and taking care of people around you and yourself will fulfill your life.

You may not understand. But his eyes were a story, a tale of how he lived his life.
They were like looking into the night sky; a fathomless wonder.
More stars than you can perceive. More questions then answers. Yet, somehow there was truth.
