The Haka
For death and life, I shout my cry.
For you to hear the threat I give.
I scream and shout for you to fall and die.
I fight for me and my brothers to live.
We thank a man for our sun.
You thank another for the moon.
We step forward and upward because we’re not done.
You step down and back, for all you have is doom.
The sun shines for us, and waits for a new.
The chant we breathe is the battle cry you fear.
Together as a team we have a family, who are you?
Do you understand what you hear?
When I yell: Ka mate, ka mate! ka ora! Ka ora! Now and then.
Kia Kaha, we’ll bear our strength in the end.
