her long, luscious, strawberry blonde hair filled with insecurities
conceals her beautifully crafted face.

wondering...
if she is smart enough…
pretty enough…
kind enough…
wondering if she is worth it.

wondering...
if she will be loved…
when it will be easy…
when things that matter now will just be a part of the past...

wondering...
if her future is what she hopes it will be…
when she will feel confident…
when she will feel like she belongs...

her thoughts drowning out reality.
her mind steering her into a sea of lies.

not realizing who she truly is.
what she has done for others.
and how they would be lost without her.

she sees herself as

that girl.
the one that isn’t anything special.

when in reality she is:

The Girl.

I wrote this poem about my friend. She was feeling sad and I wrote this to remind her of how special she is. Although I wrote this for her I think it applies to everyone. Everyone has insecurities and doubts, but I want these people to realize how special they truly are.
