I'm made up of imperfections
And coated in flaws,
And I've been climbing out of this abyss for so long
That my hands are raw,

I've been fighting to find salvation
And happiness,
To save me from this never-ending circle of
Pain and madness,

But as the darkness starts to creep closer again
To attempt to slice more veins,
This black cloud of numbness covers me
In a failed attempt to stop more pain,

And as the darkness starts to choke me
And as my head starts to scream "just kill yourself",
I reach out a hand for anyone to grab
And with a final breath,I whisper "save me from myself".

My inspiration for this poem is my fight with severe depression. It accurately portrays what that fight is like and I hope people can understand that not all depression is caused by external things, sometimes it's an internal battle.
