We Watch with Sightless Eyes: A human rights response

We watch with sightless eyes
While all our people die.
We pretend to care,
but help?
We wouldn’t dare.;

We say we are the same,
but we are divided
by a screen of glass.
Our side is foggy and muddled.
Their side is clear and simple.

We watch with sightless eyes
While all our people cry.
Our enemies swing swords of hate
but we try to escape fate.

They reach out to us,
weeping, begging.
We turn our backs in shame,
pretending not to see.

We watch with sightless eyes
passing ignorantly by.
A world we cannot see,
within grasp of you and me.

We watch with sightless eyes
watching, lifeless, as they die.

This was written in response to a human rights museum we did at school. The students made projects about human rights and we went around and saw them. This is my response.
