Gearing towards the unknown, I rise
Up in the face of adversity, Waiting
For the opportune moment to prove my worth.
The true test of manhood, to be cussed and beaten by your own peers.
Frigid bodies, like ice statues, as they yell, “BRACE, KNOB!”
Temperatures in the extremes, the cadre push us to breaking point.
I smile to myself knowing this is all apart of their game. We
Wrap up our night running through the showers, anxious for our beds.
My body is worn down, exhausted by the torture we’ve been put through. No-
Body has felt this way, I think to myself, yet many before me have made it.
In the end, everything will be worth it.
Layers and layers of stress pile on, yet I overcome.
And yes, I feel the change inside and out.
My will is strong, I know my reason to carry on. The thought of her in my
Mind carries me through. I brace and face the system
In hopes of an amazing life ahead. I shine my brass and my shoes. I have become
Discipline.
