Pain...
A word we use to let people know we are hurt.
To say we have been cut and ripped open physically and mentally.
Pain isn't limited to just one feeling or action.
It comes from the loss of a loved one.
The break up of a long relationship.
That feeling of not being apart of a group.
Everyone has different perspectives on what pain is on a mental level
But what about physically?
Is it getting cut while playing on the play ground
Scrapping your hand while skate-boarding.
Falling off the monkey bars and bruising you wrist
Or is it getting your hand smashed while working?
Is it Breaking bones from falling,
Or tearing muscles while playing sports?
Pain is unique to everyone of us.
A little girl might say her scrapped knee is causing her pain.
A young boy landing on his butt bruising it might call that pain.
A teenage girl crying over her break up might say that's pain.
So many things that pain describes.
Is it truly one word that conveys how you feel when you're physically or mentally hurt?
Maybe it's like a universal word.
It tells you that a person is not in their normal, comfortable state of life.
That they have experienced something that makes everything else around them stop and freeze.
That this single feeling is the entire focus of their whole universe.
This feeling that causes your hand to tingle and become numb.
Makes your heart hurt and beat out of rhythm.
That causes your stomach to tie itself up in knots.
This feeling of negativity and darkness.
Sometimes unsure how long it last.
Pain doesn't just end there.
It changes us.
Sometimes temporarily other times permenitly.
It can cause us to fear someone or something.
You may fall off the swing and cut your knee but you only fear it until the pain stops
But when someone you love breaks your heart.
The pain takes longer to go away.
You become scared of being with someone again.
You want to just hide from the world.
It can turn you into something your not.
Pain is like a transformation period.
You go in happy and joyful
And the come out scared, fearful, or maybe even angry.
Pain can be lethal.
It can drive people to the edge.
It can cause someone to act out against their normal nature.
Pain can control us.
So what is a pain?
It is a powerful feeling that can do a lot of damage to someone.
Stop the pain
