The Demons of Illusion
Something inside me pulled me toward you
Dare I remember that long lost dream?
Thought I'd resigned myself to my reality
And yet I find myself reaching for you
Joy bursts through me at what I find
Happiness I'd never felt before
Need and longing, peace and bliss
Re-awaken me, pulling me from the path of apathy
But Inner Demons won't let me be
They still reside within, I can't conquer on my own
They chant the old refrain, "Always last, ever alone"
Whenever I come back to my empty home
Ashamed, I struggle against them with all my might
And yet it doesn't take much for the whispered fears to rise up
Fears that one day I will reach out to you
Only to have it be a mirage, and I am alone again
