I clutch my blankets tight
as I stare blankly
into the silhouette
of my night light

All was still that night
but a storm was approaching
one in my mind
that would massacre all I knew
and loved

I was in a meadow
the smell of grass and flowers
brought pure happiness
for I was with all my favorite people too

The tooth fairies wings flutter gracefully
Cupid gathers his pink love arrows
Santa laughs a jolly ho-ho-ho
and my favorite figure gathers us all for a meal

Jesus sat at the head of the table
smiles shared
and great food was passed around for all
The meadow danced with delight

Saint Nicholas passed a plate to me with a grin
but I noticed something...

There sticking out of his sleeve
was a big, fat logo
Property of the Coca Cola Company
Horror struck both of our faces

His red clothes faded to dull grey
His healthy gut now a diabetic bulge
His face showed a smoker’s wrinkles
His jolly smile was gone
Cupid’s hands became hard and calloused love
instead of inspiring romance he inspired torn relationships
endless spirals of tears, abusiveness and false hope
His wings were too weak to soar now

The Tooth Fairy becomes a twisted witch
her gentle eyes turn to blackened despair
Stealing pure innocence from children’s untainted mouths
and leaving behind money to corrupt their mind too

They all fade into the sky
their cries make me cover my ears
pain streaked across my face
the meadow was dying

I ran to Jesus
to salvage my innocent mind
face buried in his white robe
and comforting hushes as he held me

I saw something...
I leapt back
He too discovered
And tears began to swell

His white robe now eternally stained, crimson
with the blood of millions of faithful bodies
The Champion of Stray Souls
The Messiah made by men

He too faded into the now dark sky
the meadow was now a barren field
and the massacre was now complete
a single tear fell upon my cheek

I lost my faith in Christianity the same day as I discovered Santa was not real
