Courage is being scared to death and gaining the strength to pull through

It's that very moment when you know your next to perform
And your heart beats way too fast for you to control.
You think your heart is going to leap right out your chest
And you have to grab it literally to make sure your still intact.

They call your name and your forced to stand up

Your knees start to shake
Sweat pours down your face
Your vocal cords swell shut
How on earth am I going to pull through this?

Something inside you makes you walk up towards the stage

You walk slow as a snail.
One foot in front of the other
And finally you look up and some how
Your standing on the stage, front center, in front of a mic.

The bravest thing of all is hope

Hope that you'll find the courage to sing the song
Hope not to choke or back down
Hope that the audience will love your performance
Hope that you'll be brave enough to even start the song.

Speak your mind even if your voice shakes

Something from outer space hits you like a mighty wind.
You find the trigger that allows you to sing.
You open your mouth
And finally something great that no one has ever heard comes out.

Stand up for yourself and what you believe in

You know you can sing great.
You know everyone back home loves to hear you sing
So why when it comes to this occasion, things are different?
You know what you're capable of so let other see it too.

When life gives you something to be afraid about, that's when life gives you a chance to be brave.
At the end of the day, it's your decision if you want to be brave or not.
You have to be brave with your life so other can be brave with theirs.
I choose Bravery!

Inspiration was from my school's coffee house where they can sing a song or perform a piece of writing.
