The Gold Rush
The Forty- Niners were gold miners.
They left their wives and sharpened their knives,
Just in case of Savages.
The miners traveled by horse day and night,
To be the first to arrive at the mine sight.
But hundreds already reached the destination,
All believing they were going to go home rich.
But as time dragged on, one thing became clear.
Finding gold was going to be like,
Trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Still the Forty- Niners searched on.
They set fire to a stack of dynamite,
And let it burn…
“BOOM!”
A massive explosion rocked the mine.
Immediately after, miners began to search the debris,
For the precious metal.
The dust and dirt filled the clean blue air.
Soon gold mining became a very precarious job.
But the miners did not care,
Because of their intense desire to strike rich.
Gold was now even more important than their own life.
And this was how the Wild West was built,
Out of Blood, Sweat, and Gold.
