Nourish the Soul
Giving out a compliment isn’t strenuous
It takes just seconds to bring a lasting smile
Easy as handing the sweet candy
To the little girl in the innocent Cinderella costume
The small parcel of delight passing her lips
Before she could be denied
Savoring the sugary reminisce
Giving out a compliment isn’t destructive
No ruined reputation, only continued appreciation
And flocking to you
Like birds to the bread the
Old lady on the bench gifted
Enough for all
Sustained by this nurturing token
Giving out a compliment isn’t deceptive
No ulterior motive
Pure as the uncontainable smile
Fixed on the child’s lips as the
Colossal clump of cotton candy
Rests on their tongue
Satisfying the rippling wonders
Giving out a compliment is leaving with content
For you and them
Warming your insides
Hot cocoa on a bitter day
Wrapped in a blanket
Perhaps with a fire
Secure in your own mind
