if you stepped into my mind
you'd see an old soul
full of new secrets
you'd feel the relief
of a blade
and the burn deep in your throat
of tears held back
you'd hear him say, "It's okay,
you know you want to."
you'd smell stale alcohol
and smoky hair
you'd taste vomit
as the pills came back up
don't tell me you understand
until you take a look inside
