Praying for a God
I just prayed to a god that I don’t believe in,
Because it’s what I’ve always done when committed a sin.
I’m not sure why it seems to be what people do today,
We hear something crazy but believe it anyway.
Making promises and love to a person we’ve never met,
Hoping someone out there is looking over us.
And yet I silently pray.
Wishing for tomorrow,
Hoping for a better day.
But maybe that’s all we have.
Hope.
Hope to hold on to,
Hope to want, to need.
Hoping there is a god.
Hoping we know all the answers.
