A memory to forget:
An abrupt loss.
How?
Open the heavy wooden door,
Keep your wits about you.
Quickly twist the cold, long, skeleton key.
Tie the rusty strained chains.
Lock
It in without words.
Take pride in the relieving “click”.
Turn from its cries to escape.

A memory to forget:
Never doing.
What you wish you
Had done.
Taken the step,
Used the confidence
Still unattained
The green light at the end of the dock
Unreachable.
Forget the struggles.
Forget the “what if”.

A memory to forget:
Leaving things behind.
Turning away, creating inexistence:
Painting the white page visible
At the mention.
Perfecting the questioning gaze
At the mention.
Creating the detour to the happy place,
The warm sun on my skin.
A light warm breeze keeping me cool,
Digging my toes deeper into the sand,
As the grains exfoliate my skin,
And the temperature drops the deeper I go.
Too deep.

A memory to forget:
An unbreakable bond losing its strength.
Like the ovals of a chain, wearing away.
A slow painful break, a break that twists,
Twists in the pain and realization.
Constructing a monstrous barrier of holes
Falsely impassable, strenuous to forget.

A memory to forget:
Saying goodbye.
Forget the hope.
Optimism.
Desire.
Pure throw a penny in a fountain
Wishful thinking.
Forget the way one makes a wish when
She turns her necklace back,
Or happens to glance at the clock
At the precise moment of an
Assumed magic.

A memory to learn from:
All of the above.

I hope that people can realize that everyone makes mistakes and goes through hardships, but what matters is what you learn.
