A Night in the Life of a Cat

All night I
Bolt under tables
Crawl across the soft carpet
Daringly jump from high places.
Excitedly
Following the savory smell,
Glaring into
Heaps of cat treats
In appealing, loud, crinkly containers
Jump onto the cool counter
Knock over the bag
Lazily eat the succulent catnip
My favorite treat!
No naps now
Only
Play
Quick!
Race down the hallway
Suddenly stop!
Target spotted
Unbelievable running speed
Vulnerable to my claws
What an easy catch
Xantusiidae found
Yet another lizard for my owner,
Zappy nights await me in my future
