Ignorance
Childhood is a state of mind
When you’re young and fall
Asleep on the couch to find
Your bed in the morning, so safe
It’s as if nothing can hurt you at all.
Childhood is ignorance and bliss
Coming home from a rough day of school
You are comforted with a warm hug and kiss.
It’s playing, and loving, and carefree and kind.
Until you realize all this
Is what you have to leave behind.
When you wake up on the couch. No more ignorance and bliss.
When you realize it’s all moving so fast
And that your childhood is a thing of the past.
