&quot;Silently, one by one, in the infinite meadows of heaven, blossomed the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of the angels.&quot; -Henry Wadsworth Longfellow<br /> &quot;Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality.&quot; -Richter Abend, Tales of Symphonia: DOTNW

I have been here for years;
Their memories are mine.
I have watched families come and go,
From the shade I provided.
I have given comfort to the sad,
Entertainment to the playful.
I have watched children grow and leave.
I have faced storms that tore at me,
Leaving me with fewer limbs than before.
I am a tree.
And I am home.

The author's comments:
Growing up, I lived in a wooded area for six years of my life so trees have always been a comfort to me. The way they seemed to be like giants who protected the woodland creatures below, bending and shivering in the wind always fascinated me. When given the assignment for a personification poem, I just had to choose a tree so I could embody the way they felt to me.
