What you have become
You are a sunflower.
Show the earth what you have become.
At a point,
Weak and discouraged by the taunting of the wind
And the weeds which strangled the hope from your young veins.
No longer.
You are a sunflower!
You have the warmth summer longs for,
Following the guidance of the sun.
Your scent, the faintest perfume.
Your petals, soft as cotton.
Your leaves, open arms.
Gleam the brightest,
Tower over the rest.
Cast your shadow over those who defy you
And spread your seeds of wisdom.
Nourish the soil surrounding you.
Show the earth what you have become, Sunflower.
