My ode is to you,
king of the forest,
plant of the Earth.
Your earthy taste
consumes my intelligence,
leaving me with no thoughts
but of you--
my heaven,
my soul food.
I bow down to you
and your juicy texture.
I am your slave,
your biggest fan.
My diet is you
my dear mushroom,
cooked
raw
battered
or mixed--
I will eat you wherever
or whenever.
I will eat you for breakfast
lunch
or dinner.
I give my life,
my soul,
and my heart
to you.
There is no escape from me.
You have opened my eyes to a new life .
When you sizzle on the frying pan,
you beckon me
to gobble you down right then and there.
Without you,
my world would be bare.
You are here now
cooking in front of me,
giving me everything I ever wanted.
You are the sun to the earth
and water to land.
I live for you
my perfect mushroom.

Ever since second grade, I have had a secret obsession with mushrooms. This poem gave me the chance to express my feelings and have fun.
