Good Bye for now
The sun shines, high in the sky.
But everyone and everything
around me turned dark.
Nailed to the carpet floor
I’m standing still,
wiping my short lashes, left to right.
The unwanted words were spoken,
grandma, and death.
The fresh sunny day fell into chaos.
My heart died inside and out,
I just couldn't believe it,
the sweet grandma who was always there for me,
who was my second mother
vanished from the world.
Not even one last goodbye, was spoken.
The chain that once linked us,
shattered into millions of pieces.
All I could do was cry myself a river.
A river of regret,
for not being there for her.
Never will I get
to see the tiny old lady
waking up cooking me fried eggs.
The fragrance of Asian medicine
will forever be gone but not forgotten.
If you can hear me, I just wanted to say
goodbye for now.
Because one day, the broken chains
will be repaired
when I meet you again.
