Rise.
A part of me, so small,
yet it consumes me
Others define me by it,
See me as that person
I've gotten to where I am
Through hard work and so much pain
There are so many things I've done
For better and for worse
Life, a series of decisions
Of choices, one propels forward
The other drags you down
Down into a deep dark place
A self-made fortress of solitude
Often I ask who I am
Am I the person I
swore I'd never become
Am I living a nightmare
From which I can't wake up?
So many possibilities before me
I have to make a choice
Rise up and earn what
Is left for me to take;
I make my own way
It is my duty not to others
I am paving a road for myself
It is my duty
To use what I have been given
To seize each chance and exploit
Nobody is better or worse,
good or evil, there is only
different; we can only be defined
by what we choose for ourselves
Not the molds others try to fit us in
I want to be me
I want to rise up and be
The person I see myself as being
Somebody who is not afraid
To do what has never been done
The endless opportunity
It's just within reach
To go beyond our dreams
To create the way
To live in a world reborn
