Being Honest and Speaking Your Mind
People say speak your mind
I have a lot to say
But judgments get in the way
Sometimes it’s just easier to stay quiet
Amidst all the madness and just drift away
I have been hurt before and humiliated
So what do I say?
I am in my own bubble hiding from snarky comments and being hurt.
I can be quiet but my mind is loud
I think endlessly and talk loudly in my head
I don’t always say much because what I am thinking means more
Just cause you don’t hear me
Doesn’t mean I am judging people
I am thinking with value and importance
When does judging stop?
This is not just something we are born with but can control
Like a switch, we can stop the judgments right before they come out of our mouth
Why do we hate,
People who are generous and kind,
When the only reason they are hated is because of people’s insecurities
With insecurities come constant judgments
We would not feel this way
If everyone was seen as one, complex, flawed, unique and amazing individual
Speak your mind,
It just comes with a price

I was inspired to write this because I could relate a lot to the message of the poem. I think a lot in my head and sometimes it is hard to let it all out and tell others without hurting anyone or offending anyone.
