Little Treasures
I had to steal my moments with you. A robber baron, cloaked in nothing but my own fear that they would never be enough. If I could, I'd have stolen them all, each of them little gifts wrapped in tin paper. The few we shared were like Christmas morning. I can't shake the fear though. I never could. I'm a gilded person. Gold on the outside, but on the inside something completely different. Have you seen that? Spend enough time and the gold begins to wear away. You, though, you're steel. Cool to the touch, with no fear of breaking. I always envied you of that. The way you're certain of it all. I live by holding my breath. The uncertainty eats at me, always. I feel it there, a heavy stone on my chest. You, though, you're steel.
