Revenge
The stench of horror assails my nose as I fall to the ground
Bleeding, near dead, the pain and darkness consuming me
Then suddenly I see near me, another
Suffering the same fate
And I am left with a choice;
Reach out to them, comfort them
While causing myself more pain
Or stay to myself, not consoling, not assisting
And not increase my pain.
I choose to reach out to the person,
Only to find a friend,
Lying prone on the ground.
Near gone,
Just like me.
As I reached out, the pain of the stab wound in my back grew tremendously
But as soon as my skin made contact with his,
It faded.
And we both stood,
Leaning on each other,
Looking for support.
And suddenly,
In front of us appeared two monsters.
It was a mirror.
We were seeing ourselves.
Terrifying beasts,
Stronger than one hundred of the people who had once injured us.
And seeking revenge.
Knowing now, only the power that comes from pain,
Fueled by anger, controlled by hate.
To stand alone, together,
To stand for the others who did not find another.
Those who could not find someone to help them up when they had fallen.
The wounds have healed, leaving only a scar.
But it will last forever,
Always reminding us of why we are here.
But always telling us of what we have survived, and the strength we have.
And as we walk on in silence,
Back to the world,
We are prepared to get our revenge
By helping other victims of the wounds that we once had.
