One Day
One day when I am old and brittle.
I will go back to the hallways I once walked.
One day when I re-walked the halls.
I saw a teenage girl holding her 6 lbs 8 oz baby.
One day when I re-walked the halls.
I heard a toddler screaming for more Cheetos.
She had orange all around her lips.
One Day when I re-walked the halls.
I watched a little girl eat pancakes with her mommy.
Her mommy said 'Happy Birthday! good luck on your first day of kindergarten!'
One day when I re-walked the halls.
I saw a young lady walking into middle school.
She had the look of fear on her face.
One day when I re-walked the halls.
I heard cheering when she was called up to the stage to get her Diploma.
One day when I re-walked the halls.
I heard the words 'I do'
Come from this once little girl who is now a young woman.
One day when I re-walked the halls.
I heard a Drum.
Only it was not a Drum.
It was the sound of her babies heart-beat.
One day when I re-walked the halls.
I saw a mother holding her son in a hospital bed.
One day when I re-walked the halls.
I saw her son grow up in a blink of an eye.
One day when I re-walked the halls.
I heard the sound of beeps.
This once baby, toddler, little girl, young lady, young woman is now a old lady.
In a hospital bed.
With her family saying her good byes.
This long hallway has come to an end.
