They Watched

The elephants on my mantle piece watch over me
They watched silently
Throughout the years
Watched me grow taller
Bigger
Stronger
Braver
Then the accident happened
They watched me grow
Scared
Sad
They watched me break
I screamed at them
I threw them
And yet,
They did not break
Nor shatter
They watched me calmly
They watched me cry
They watched me hurt
And now they watched me
Pour out my secrets
To the only person I trusted
They watched me heal
They watched get better
And now I’m here
