Ode to the Common Jerk
Why are people so cruel?
What is there to gain?
Does hitting another kid,
who, mind you, is smaller and weaker than you,
make you feel any better?
Just saying,
but it only makes you worse.
Does spreading a hurtful rumor,
knowing that it is completely false,
make you sit a little straighter?
It should make you want to
stoop down in shame.
Tell me why, please?
I just want to understand
the purpose in life
of the common jerk.
