Sleepy Sailors

Far away, where ships do sail a Captain lays asleep
His me go down into their quarters as day draws to an end
The sea is calm, the boat is still and night begins to creep
A sailor at first watch, quickly into dreams he does descend

Little do they know, that the calm is coming to an end
Dark clouds begin to loam and blacken the moon lit sky
The winds begin to blow and cause the mast to bend
The rain begins to poor, from the clouds so very high

The sailors take little notice, as long as their beds stay dry
The rain falls harder and the sky brightens with every lighting crack
Waves begin to grow in size as the night becomes alive
Poseidon’s fury is unleased as the storm begins its attack

Water begins to fill the floor of the Captain’s tiny little shack
The men arise and scramble to their post in an attempt to battle nature’s violent show
Sailors fight to keep her afloat, but it is evident strength, the ship does lack
She can take no more as the wood splits and sinks to the depts below

Sailors are tossed into the rough waters with temperatures so very low
With life too hard to bear, Poseidon claims his prizes
The Captain is all that’s left and knows it’s out of his control
He begins to sink to the depts below, he slowly closes his eyes
