Flashback Poem
The house was perfectly cozy
My brother and I in our onesies.
Although the wind was howling outside
The music was echoing through our house, drowning it out.
Hot coca on our breath,
Smiling faces were illuminated in the bulbs as they went on the tree.
Small flakes started to fall
It was quite picturesque.
Dad was grumbling curses as he tried to put the angel up
My little ears were deaf to anything foul.
Eventually she was finished
Our family’s stories and memories put out for display.
The cat knocked over an ornament or two
But it was still beautiful.
Years went by and trees came and went
Although my mind matured and lost its innocence,
My heart grew stronger with love every Christmas that passed.
