The Zamboni Poem
Walking into the towering hockey stadium,
One could hear the starting ceremonies from the outside.
Sinking into the too-small theater seat
I plop my bag on the ground,
And settle in for the game.
As bells clanged out that it was halftime,
The players quickly glided back to their box,
Their blades flashing against the whiteness.
When out from the depths of the stadium,
Emerged a most wondrous creature.
I’m done; it’s decided,
I am going to get a Zamboni.
With its slow but steady stroll around the rink
Ruby red paint glittering like the ice beneath it
My face, shining with happiness from the driver’s seat.
