Be patient. Be fine. Be balanced. Be kind.

I see this word oh, so differently
My accomplishments within my soul
Overcome by the blitz of alcohol and the bright lights of late nights
Everything spun, a shattered little girl within my eyes
Broken bottles swept up amongst the floor, I don't need you anymore

Razor blades cold, yet the only thing that felt warm
My blood was my saving grace

Doctor's eyes all around, give me pills to keep me safe and sound
Little orange bottles screaming 'you need me'
Strong and secure I say 'I am free'

Look through my past, what you will see
is a hundred devils drowning me
Overcome and won against all, depression can't make me fall

Accomplishment isn't the medals on my mirror or the trophies on the shelf
but the breaths I take, alive and well
A warrior of life, a survivor of the mess
At 17, a statue built of memories and life's tests
The road was a battle, but I didn't lose

That's accomplishment to me, how I could've died but chose to be
A fighter
A warrior
The woman that you see

The author's comments:
We had to write a piece about our accomplishments in life for our English class. Everyone wrote some sentences smashed together about objects they had bought or what they wanted to do with their life, and I found myself writing about the things I had overcome by myself. Life has been so hard on me, and I feel like I haven't had anything easy, but writing about it made me realize that me going through the things I have been through have made me who I am and I wouldn't change that for anything.
