My love has no lips
Rubies take their place
Her arms, gold and cold
Offer me no embrace

My lady has no eyes
But sapphires, bright and blue
Instead of hair, she wears
Silks in every hue

Youth?
She knows not the word
Her voice, shattered glass
Compared to the morning bird’s

My wife is kept in a chamber
Away from everyone
Except when my eye
Lands on something fun

Bit by bit
I give her away
Knowing she will return to me
Another day
