"Weirdness is something you never completely outgrow, you just get better and better at hiding it."-Unknown

The sound of the thoughts in my mind
is like hard rain hitting city concrete.
My thoughts have a voice that speaks
visually through pen written letters.
You can hear the music booming with bass
as I walk by you, my knowledge striking chords.
My thinking yells for attention from all
and laughs with pleasure upon an idea.
My mind speaks kind words indiscriminately,
fizzes like soda, and chimes like a clock.

Catch me pensive, and you’ll see a messy bedroom,
but a bird’s eye view reveals a brilliantly painted canvas.
My eureka moments resemble old Nikes strung on power lines
or Doc Martens and Chuck All-stars making footprints on blacktop.
You see the faces of everyday Joes or Janes
bustling back and forth as I ponder and calculate.
Bright lights illuminate stunning architecture
next to street lights that set a glow to murals and burners.
Abstract thought makes abstract color and shape.
A collage of innovation immersed in creativity.

Imagination tastes sweet like ice cream on a hot day.
It’s tart like lemon and bites like jalapeño.
Home cooked and warm from the oven,
there’s plenty to go around for all who would like a taste.
Snackish delight makes thoughts appealing
like brownies drizzled in hot fudge chocolate,
salty chips and dip, meat and cheese nachos,
or hot Italian pizza from a New York City restaurant.
Ethnic dishes from a variety of continents
diversify the way I process information.

Inhale the smell of wet earth after a thunderstorm,
and I empty my head into the lungs of the breather.
Classy perfume dabbed lightly on the wrists
is memorable, but not overwhelming,
and just mysterious enough to keep you interested.
Bursting forth with ingenuity is the saline scent of a wave,
strong like the ocean it returns to in a flash.
Incense and candles, oils and soaps, flowers and cut grass,
keep all thought clean and fresh in perspective.
Wafting though the air is an open mind in contemplation.

Meditation feels like freshwater flowing through fingertips,
cool and invigorating , smooth and enlightening.
Sleek and aerodynamic like a new invention,
my mind is the result of years of study; trial and error.
Comforting like a touch from a loved one
a thought of mine nurtures the inquisitive.
Sometimes few understand what ideas try to convey
like Braille writing in a book; understand if you know how to.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste,
and a wonderful thing to experience.

This Piece was written about two years ago when I experienced a sudden burst of creative inspiration. The best poems come to me that way. In essence, it explains the way my mind works from a more tangible perspective.
