How Do You?
How do you convince someone that
the suns shines a little brighter
when he’s around?
Or that
the darkness isn’t as scary
when he’s around?
How do you explain to someone that
he’s the reason for your smile,
and without him,
you wouldn’t have one?
Or that
he’s the reason you wake up every morning
and without him,
you want to sleep forever?
How do you persuade someone to
stay with you when all he really wants
is to leave?
Or to
tell you what’s wrong when he just wants
to keep it inside?
How do you not cry when
he walks away,
leaving you behind?
Or when
the texts stop coming,
and you don’t understand why?
How do you stay positive when
nothing is going right
and your heart is breaking?
Or when
you see him in the hall,
ignoring your existence?
How do you keep breathing knowing
you mean absolutely nothing to him,
and maybe you never did?
Or knowing
you never cross his mind
and maybe he met someone new?
How do you not die realizing
everything you ever believed
was a lie?
Or realizing
how much of an impact he truly had
on your life?
How do you move one when
you’re still wrapped up
in his arms?
Or when
your mind is consumed
by thoughts of him?
How do you love someone else when
your heart beats for only
him?
Or when
the memories come rushing back to
you?
How do you convince someone that
life seems a little easier
with him around?
Or that
your heart seems a little lighter
with him around?
How do you show someone how
deep your love for him
is?
Or how
you put his happiness before your
own?
How do you love someone who pushes
you away when
you get to close?
Or pushes
your heart back
to you in disgust?
