Limited Love
He had ordered a whiskey, per usual,
And why shouldn’t he.
She was the one who had changed after all.
They had been through the routine before,
With the smooth liqueurs and rich soup du jours.
She could feel them drifting,
Separated by an invisible partition
That neither mentioned, nor took notice of.
Torn from her thoughts
By the rhythmic “clink clink” of the ice in his glass,
Realizing that it was over when
She was more in love with their memories,
Than the man sitting opposite her.
