The Insurmountable?

Every day I leave from
The safety of my house
No protection or preservation
Only hope remains with me

The sky is blue,
A tepid sea above
The sun beams rain upon me
But the light escapes my eyes

My journey is not uphill,
Nor is it a swift road
I walk, unbridled and oblivious
to the curse of humanity
As I’m struck by a wall of air

A force insurmountable
Unaffected by the stars
Renouncing all my progress,
A wall without a door

I continue forward persistently
Bereaved of all avail
But the wind does not attack me,
I choose to continue forward,
I walk into its maw

It rests upon my path
And habit dictates my road
It seem so illogical
But habit is not bread of sense
It is a deadly force,
Unmerciful and unforgiving.

Even so, when I am wreathed
By sadness and decay
My habit becomes my preservation
For the wind is at my back.
