A Woman of Wonder
Her life started out
Moving place to place
Dr. Maya Angelou
Of the African American race
Sexual abuse
From her mothers boyfriend
Back to her grandma in Missouri
A Godsend
Mute
She had become
But a loving teacher
Helped her to overcome
She dropped out of highschool
But back she went
Yet again she left
Her time had been spent
She now had a son
A single mother of sorts
As he had no father
And her no ring of quartz
A Caged Bird
Still I rise
Some of her greatest works
Never will they die
I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings
A story of her life
Tales of dentists and magic
And even some of strife
Her life still lives on
85 years of greatness
She will never be forgotten
Her eminence is contagious
Her works speak to us
Still today
They will live on forever
Past her dying day
