Wondrous, my world it seems,
So fun, so fitting, not a crease in the seams,
But should you look further, you’d soon find out,
That my world itself, is full of doubt.

Unrelenting, life it can be,
So fragmented and stagnated, oh so easy to see,
All you need do is look past the lies,
And into the truth of their alibies.

Many don’t care how much the pain hurts,
No matter the torment that comes from hurtful words,
They press on as if they know best,
Too bad they know as little as the rest.

A life in my shoes, I wish you would walk,
To feel the pain, that limits my mind to talk,
Music it seems my only escape,
But they took it away, without any shame.

A day in the life of a pain forsaken teen,
You think it’s funny, to poke and tease,
But how would you feel, if I ended it all,
Would you really care? Would finally let tears fall?

I feel as if I’m the mistake you must bear,
I can see the resent in your eyes; I know that it’s there,
For your son that tries to make you proud,
But all you ever do is cut him down.

I tried with all my might,
To be the best son, day in and day night,
What did I do wrong, can you let me know,
Because after this year, I’ll finally go.

Out of your hair, I’ll finally be,
To leave you to your favorite child, younger than me,
I’m sorry he’s better, in every way,
All I’ve wanted to hear, was you ask me to stay.

A life in my shoes, is all I ask,
To be let down, cut down, and hidden by a shadowy mask,
If I was better, would you love me more?
A life in my shoes is all I ask for.

The author's comments:
This was inspired by a personal feeling of inferiority to a "favorite" child that isn't related by full blood. I feel that the older kids often times are neglected by the older parents; even if the parents don't mean it. I hope that this is able to reach people like me, who just want someone who feels the way they do, because believe me, I know the pain all too well.
