The greatest trick the devil ever pulled
was convincing the entire world to stay away from him.
To step back from the cliff,
to not speak, but hold their tongue,
and to wait for the world to bring a miracle to their feet.

I laugh at him, I don’t obey him.
I don’t run from him, I embrace him like a brother.
He is not my master, and I am not his.
His cliff is my cliff, and he will not pull me away.

No one will tell me when it’s my time,
the mouse doesn’t tell the cat when to get hungry,
and the cliff draws ever closer
to the bottom of my shoes in the dust.

The one who stands at the cliff, only waiting to jump
will live his life just to die,
but the man who jumps instead of falls exits this world,
standing at the top of it.
But the devil will flinch as a generation
does not stand,
does not fall,
does not jump,
but takes a running start towards the abyss
and shouts a battle cry as he disappears.

One who stands still while an equal talks down to him
will always be stuck looking up,
and will never look down to realize how high he really stands.
One who talks back to the arrogant,
fights the normal,
and does not accept that they are weak,
will be given the right to talk to his equals on even ground,
face to face
and eye to eye.

One who waited for the world to bang down their door with a miracle,
will be waiting until they fall into space.
One who knocks down the world’s wall and snatches the miracle with their own hands
will not be kept with his toe tapping.

The devil has no power.
The devil cannot hurt you.
Don’t throw your time away,
but don’t wait for it to run out.

Take a running leap,
and make him flinch.
